​"This series of pictures was inspired by 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll and the original illustrations by John Tenniel. By inserting myself into Alice's fantasy world and the characters who inhabit it, I have been able to explore my interest and fascination with issues of self-expression, gender fluidity, and crossdressing."

Greg Hawkes is also a musician. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band The Cars.
